The City of Presidents
With four MBTA Red Line stations within walking distance of millions of square feet of existing – or future – office and lab space, the City of Quincy is uniquely positioned to harness the full potential of Biotechnology development. From North Quincy, to Wollaston, Quincy Center and to South Quincy, the Red Line, now undergoing a $1 billion transformation, cuts directly through the heart of this historic City best known as the hometown of American giants such as John and Abigail Adams and John Hancock.
While cherishing its rich history, the City is undergoing a 21st century renaissance built on its role as the economic engine for the region south of Boston. Quincy’s 3-million square-foot downtown is today in the middle of a transformative revitalization that will ultimately total more than $1 billion in private and public investment. Hundreds of new housing units are now accepting tenants; more than a dozen new restaurants and shops have opened in just the last several years; and a centerpiece public park honoring the City’s history is slated to open this fall. And the City is just getting started.
Mayor Thomas Koch has designated FoxRock Development as the lead developer for up to 1 million square feet in commercial space, primarily designed for medical and laboratory users, for a city-owned parcel where a blighted public parking garage once stood. BIO participants will be able to see first-hand the work already completed by the City and its partners, but more importantly see the canvas for unlimited potential in the years ahead.
Tours will pick up and drop off at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Tour cost: $35.00.
Check-in opens at 9:00am in Room 210A. Tour attendees must pick up their BIO Convention Badge before seeking tour check-in. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your tour's scheduled depature. The cancellation date to receive a full refund of payment for tours is April 27. After this point, refunds will not be issued. All name changes or substitutions for tour attendees must be requested by May 18.
